about

This 2005 set is from the iconic ‘Hugh’s Room’ venue on Dundas Street W, Toronto.

Martyn first sang on this stage in1999 and has now played there more than15 times. It is one of his favourite venues on the planet.

Introduced on stage by famed Canadian Album Art work genius Michael Wrycraft, Martyn plays a rich set of songs showcasing the "Whoever It Was" album with a few whispers of the upcoming "Deep Blue" record. Classics like "Dic Penderyn" and "Thunder and Rainbows" (which includes an improv of how his car broke down on the way to the show) are delivered with punch along with Martyn’s renowned but now rare cover of the Larry Norman song "The Great American Novel".
